The Project

Part of the new National Geographic Museum of Exploration in Washington, the Geoverse is a 270 degree interactive theater that immersives visitors into the wonders of our planet. The "day in the desert" exhibition invites guests to spend a day into the Great Victoria Desert.

This project features many advanced graphical effects such as a day/night lighting cycle, a reactive sand simulation following the users' footsteps, rain and lightning effects, plants rustling when stepped on, and a massive pre-rendered desert scenery layered with interactive content.

Contribution

I was the lead developer on this project, responsible for the majority of Unity programming involved. I was responsible for coordinating and integrating the various asset crafted by graphic designers, prerendered content, audio designers and composers, scientific writers, technical artists, and graphics programmers. I also handled all gameplay programming, quality assurance, and software deployment. This was a pet project for me, and I was very happy to see it brought to life in all its glory!
